About SDUPS

SDUPS has OVER 40 years of history (est. 1961).  Ron Church called the first organizational meeting of the Photographic Society on September 28th, 1961. The SDUPS meets in Sumner Auditorium of Scripps Institution of Oceanography, at 7:00pm on most fourth Thursday’s of most months. Please check the EVENTS CALENDAR for exact dates and times. and see the map for directions.  Meetings open with a digital show prelude composed of images from any member who wishes to contribute to it. In 2005, the San Diego Underwater Photographic Society won 1st place in Nature’s Best Magazine competition with the images presented in New York City’s prestigious Smithsonian.
